I was interviewed this morning by Mike Hosking on Newstalk ZB about social media in business and one of the main themes that was dealt with was reputation management and brand monitoring. If you missed the interview you can click below.[audio:http://www.newstalkzb.co.nz/podcasts/audio/06100151.mp3]
Reputation management is definitely a concern for a large amount of businesses. Mike referenced some stats in the beginning which were sourced from an article in the Sydney Morning Herald titled, Reputation wrecking: social media alarm sounds.
The good news is that there are solutions out there which can help businesses listen and track brand mentions. These vary from combining free tools, like google alerts and google reader all the way up to very robust enterprise solutions such as Radian 6 which can cost thousands of dollars per month.
Powerboard Social media can help you setup a brand monitoring solution that is within your budget and if you would like to learn more feel free to get in touch, but rather than wait around, let’s do something really simple to get you started in 2 minutes.
Watch the video below to see how to use google alerts to track you brand mentions. Note you can also use this to track competitor brands and your products as well. Whilst not incredibly robust it will get you started and at least give you some ears into the online world.
Thanks to Mike and Newstalk ZB for the interview. It was fun!
